Wool2Dye4 Stock Report! November 2013 and January 2014

100% superwash Merino, 4-Ply Sock Yarn

100% superwash Merino, 4-Ply Sock Yarn

Just received:  early November 2013 shipment of merino wool yarn at Wool2Dye4.

Late last week we received another shipment of our lovely yarns to return a couple of popular merino based yarns to stock, and to boost inventory of others.  Here’s what just arrived:

Cash Sock MCN skeins
Crazy 8 skeins
DK-115
Donegal Aran Merino Traditional Aran, skeins
Platinum Sock, skeins
Quarter Round (new)
Sheila’s Gold, cones & skeins
Sheila’s Sock, cones & skeins
Silk DK 50/50, skeins
Silk Merino NSW (non-superwash version of Silk Sock 50/50)
Silk Sock 50/50
Silky Single
Soft Single
Ultra Merino 3Ply, cones & skeins
W2D4 Merino Bulky-SW, cones & skeins
W2D4 Merino DK-SW, skeins
W2D4 Merino Worsted-SW, skeins

As you know, not all yarns are presented on skeins and cones, too.   If there is no notation of cones or skeins after a yarn’s name, this means that the yarn is only available on skeins.  All packages are kilo packs of ten skeins, each skein at 100 grams, unless other wise noted.  In the list above, the only exception in weight is DK-115.  Here we have a 100% superwash merino wool yarn at a slightly finer grade than our W2D4 Merino wool yarn line.  The other difference between our signature W2D4 Merino DK-SW and DK-115 is the difference in skein weight.  DK-115 is presented in slightly heavier skein weights, at 115 grams.  This gives a knitter just a little more yarn to the skein, which is important as you go up in weight and there are fewer yards to a skein.  DK-115 yardage is 250 yards on the 115 gr skeins, and W2D4 Merino DK-SW has 231 yards per 100 gr skein.

Quarter Round, new 4-ply superwash merino

We can always get excited about a new sock yarn here at Wool2Dye4, and Quarter round seems to be making lots of our customers happy.  It was introduced a few weeks ago, and already demand is growing. In fact, this yarn is one of our U.K. colleague’s best selling yarns, and we had to join in the club.  Weighing in at sock weight, this 4Ply yarn is soft and will bloom when dyed. Someone on our Ravelry.com group asked about the ‘squoosh’ factor when comparing Quarter Round to Ultra Merino 3Ply, and I’d have to give UM3 a 5 on a scale of 5 for genuine squoosh, and Quarter Round a good strong 4.

Of course, this is one of our springy superwash merino yarns and you know it will absorb color beautiful, as our merino yarns do.
